Where I’m Meant To Be

Starting out with this project I didn’t think that it would be really interesting however as time has progressed I have found that it really was fun.  I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do on campus but when I figured it out I was sure I was going to make he best of it.  I did a story on my best friend Tatyana and how she is an upcoming actress.  Things I would change about this project is the topic I decided to discuss because it dealt more with the past so it was hard for me to find photos and videos but i made due with what I had, overall I enjoyed every minute of this project.

Olivia Iacono – Project 2

I found this project to be more challenging in the sense of time constraint.  While it was hard to find exactly what I wanted to use in my video, it also helped me to focus on my purpose.  I find that using videos throughout the story helps to break it up and keep it interesting.  I also found it helpful that I had B-Roll that I could use from the past, such as pictures of my niece when she was younger.  This project was fun for me to put together because I was interested in the story I was telling and it was a topic that my family and I could all relate to and appreciate.  For the next project, I will try to organize my B-Roll better because sometimes it was difficult to locate exactly what I needed for certain parts of my video.

On Campus Story By Paul Passantino

In this campus story I did a story on the Wagner Hockey team championship. I interviewed my brother who was the captain of the team. I asked him a series of questions about the team and how they all felt about winning. Originally I wanted to have two people to interview , but because no one had time to be interviewed and a few were shy. I had enough of A and B roll footage. When it came to editing I did not run into a few problems, everything went smooth. The only things that I had problems with is the sound. My brother would be answering the question before I finished asking it so it was kind of difficult to cut that out. Overall my brother did a fantastic job when it came to giving me answers. I also put an environmental sound of a hockey game that I played in the past weekend throughout the video. I have it in the whole video because I felt that it gave the video more flavor and it keeps the interview from getting boring. I guess I thought the video got boring after spending a couple of hours watching it. But, I think the environmental sound is a good fit for the video.

Hamster Podcast

The Hamster 3:00 minute podcast I listened to was made – according to me – with not very many noises.  It seemed as if every noise was easily detectable for the reason that there were not too many occasions where the noises overlapped as they would have in a more complicated podcast.  There are about five different noises within the time frame which were put together in a certain manner in order to portray exactly what it was meant to portray.  Throughout the entire podcast, the theme of tranquility remained prominent through the low tones in the volume of the peoples’ voices and the majority of silence in the room apart from.

This video was prepared in its own way in order to go through with the message that it wanted to bring forth.  I believe that it was made to make the listener feel as if they were engaging in regular conversation with the speaker.  Soft voices were what the listener was first introduced with and then the narrator begins talking with the background noise being the room tone (silence).  Once the listener was caught on the words that the speaker was administrating -about 45 seconds in, sounds of the strings of a guitar were introduced into the piece.  The narrator began sounding more engaged in the conversation by making her voice more excited and then the music came to a halt at about one minute and ten seconds.  Throughout the entire time the narrator/speaker was speaking, there were soft noises of voices in the background engaging in the conversation itself.  At about two minutes and eighteen seconds, the hamster started to what it sounded like – eat although to me it sounded like a wind noise.  The guitar begins again about twenty seconds after pulling the story plot together while simultaneously keeping the casual, tranquil environment.

Confidence

Similar to everyone, I faced a challenge with the pictures. Somehow, in the confusion of transferring the pictures from the sd card to my computer to my flash card I lost all the pictures – luckily I had made “the best of ” photos into another folder and so the pictures I had left were at least of the best. Since I wasn’t satisfied with my last edition of the recording, this gave me the chance to perfect it. I thought about adding b track sounds , but i reconsidered because this story was more focused in the motion of the pictures and I didn’t want to take away from that. I really enjoyed the process and am proud of the finalized story- I just wish the title “confidence” didn’t jump in the video- I couldn’t figure out how to fix it

Kelly final audio and photo

This video was challenging for me. The first time was doing I realized that I didn’t render any of my files and then when I went to go do final edits I realized my whole file was corrupt and I had to start all over. I know my audio is a bit messy and I was having trouble fixing the messy spots, but I know now that I need to save a copy of the audio file so I can go fix it.

Even though I took a ton of pics I still didn’t have enough shots to go with my story, which is why I have some blank parts where she’s just talking. The photos were hard to begin with because I didn’t have the essentials I wanted like a soccer ball or an actual soccer team to shoot with her playing. She sent me some pics of her and her old team mates so I used some of those to help with the story.

In the end I still had trouble because YouTube decided to not work so I had to improvise and use Vimeo, which took an additional hour for me to upload onto the blog.

After doing this first video project I know what to do for my next video project. I know that I need to prepare a storyline so I know what I want to do with pics, audio, etc. I’ll be sure to get a clear idea of my story so that i can appeal it with my photos.

Skateboarding Slideshow

This project was very enjoyable.  Part of the culture of skateboarding is making videos, so I’ve had a good amount of experience with editing videos.  I never made a video like this before however.  The interview aspect and showing more than just tricks was a new experience, but I didn’t really run into any problems and it went smoothly.

Final Classmate Profile

While I was producing my piece, I found it challenging to take pictures that were relevant to the topic.  In order to overcome this problem I tried my best to take pictures that had to do with the different aspects.  Next time, I will pick a story that will be easier to document with pictures, rather than ask about a time in the past.  My favorite part of the project was sorting out all of my material and making it come together as a final piece.   It was fun to pick everything apart and put it in an order that made sense to me.
