On Campus Project

At the start of the on campus project i thought it would be quite easy to say the least. I found a good topic to base my story on and how it went about was a lot tougher than expected. Because Greg was so busy with his meetings and how some meetings had topics that were brought up too sensitive for a camera to be around made it tough to actually get some footage done; not to mention that he had classes in the midst of all this.

After finally being allowed to get footage i was squeezed for time to make a video, edit it, and post it up. I think next time i do a story i will make sure its of something i can get plenty more footage of and hopefully have excess footage rather than less.

Interview Project

Doing this video i came across some difficulties, one for example was i wasnt sure as to how long i should keep a photo showing. Also it was somewhat difficult to find the right questions to ask to keep the story fluent. Next time i think conduct clearer open ended questions to ask and to learn how to use final cut pro and imovie so it saves me some trouble.

Audio Piece

Conducting the interview was quite difficult for me. This is probably because it was the first time i have ever made an interview which included an actual microphone and camera, so i was that sure as to what to ask or how to ask the questions we came up with. in the future i know now how to ask and lead on the person im interviewing to somewhat drag along their answers to make it more full and fluent in a sense. when i conduct my new interview piece i am pretty sure i know how to go about my segment with questions that will add more substance to the story im trying to tell to the audience.

Audio

In this audio piece I am interviewing Laura and trying to connect a series of questions to make a story out of why she made her choice at Wagner. The process was somewhat long and drawn out due to not knowing what to exactly ask at first then settling to write some questions down before hand to help the question and answers run smoothly.

During the editing process i needed to pinpoint what pieces of audio would be sufficient to make the interview sound smooth throughout. i started with the empty spaces (silent areas) to break down the audio to a shorter length. Next it was onto the cutting of the voices asking the actual questions, that was not too difficult. It was rather tedious due to where to cut the file, or when the last word ends to make it somewhat sound clear.

After the silent spaces of the audio file are cut and the pieces where the questions are asked, we are left with nothing but the person being interviewed and their voice. The room-tone and environmental sound are places in the background of the audio as well.

This podcast begins with the ringing of a phone call and is followed by multiple voices (not all at the same time) answering the call. These different individuals are asked to elaborate on their experiences with people cheating on school assignments. As their stories flow through the podcast, they are somewhat mixed together to give it a entertaining feel.

Whether it was a teacher or a student telling the story, they both could not help but make the listening chuckle. The extent of what people went through to cheat was clever and somehow worked, at times. Other students were caught red handed and in turn made ridiculous excuses that the teacher had to try to hold in his own laughter.
