From 1999 to 2001 I was a research associate of the university, and in this capacity I enjoyed facilitated access to the museum&#8217;s collections. I also gave a number of performances on museum instruments, including several collaborations with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/site.www.umb.edu\/faculty\/oleskiewicz_m\/\">Mary Oleskiewicz<\/a>, then assistant professor at the University of South Dakota and curator of instruments at the museum (now at the University of Massachusetts-Boston).<\/p>\n<p>To give you an idea not only of what these instruments sound like alone, but also how they combine with other instruments, some clips are from chamber works for several instruments.<\/p>\n<p>Most of these files are in MP3 format and be played with Windows Media Player, QuickTime, and other players.<\/p>\n<p><em>Clavichord, Swedish, ca. 1770.
