After, Anna suggested we go to her favorite cookie shop Schmackary&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-198 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/6-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"6\" width=\"175\" height=\"102\" \/><\/a>She had told me previously that they made gluten free cookies. This made me super excited because every since moving to Wagner I haven&#8217;t really been able to have a lot of deserts or baked goods. So we made our way to the cookie shop where I bought the last remaining gluten free cookie called the &#8220;Yogi Bare&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Yogi Bare&#8221; consists of\u00a0gluten free oats, peanut butter, applesauce, cranberries, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seed, raisins, maple syrup, and cinnamon. \u00a0When I <a href=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-195 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/1-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"205\" height=\"123\" \/><\/a>searched for, and found, the ingredient list online before we arrived it got me thinking back to Dr. Smith&#8217;s class\u00a0a week ago when she brought in the Dutch Spice cookies. This was like my o<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-201 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/2-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"142\" height=\"86\" \/>wn version.<\/p>\n<p>Like the ones in class I dissected the ingredients and tried to figure out where each ingredient came from. Using the Colombian Exchange image Dr. Smith had in class, I found\u00a0out that the oats and sugar came from the old world while most of the other ingredients were from the new <a href=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-202 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/faculty.wagner.edu\/citizen-appetites\/files\/2015\/09\/7-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"7\" width=\"223\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a>world. Just like the Dutch Spice Cookies, my cookie puts into prospect how global our world became after the age of explorations. Without the exchanges, those cookies would have never existed.
